About Inside Track

Our History

Inside Track has been a mainstay in the running community since 1976 when Gary Tuttle first opened his running shop. As an accomplished runner with national recognition, Gary's knowledge and devotion to the running community began Inside Track's long history with running and racing.

Inside Track not only offered a place to buy your running shoes and apparel, it was a place where local athletes could meet, run and have a great time traveling to running events together as part of Team Inside Track.

In 2007 Josh Spiker took the reins and after a short stay at 1410 E. Main St., Josh moved Inside Track to a larger location and introduced swimming and triathlon. Josh's personal accomplishments as a runner and his superior customer service transformed the little shop into a complete run and triathlon specialty store.

Now in its 3rd year as a specialty running and triathlon store, Inside Track is Ventura County's premier store for all your running, swimming, and triathlon needs. Located near the beach and bike path at 2437 Harbor Blvd. in the Von's Shopping Center. Our commitment to customer service, knowledge and community support is what makes Inside Track so special. While still offering the local athletes a place to meet for runs and rides, Inside Track also offers coaching, clinics, team sales and a dynamic sales team of runners and triathletes.

Inside Track is more than just an athletic shoe store with lots of running and walking shoes, clothes and accessories. We specialize in fitting every person to the proper shoe, apparel and training designed for their unique needs. Each customer is given an opportunity to experience our unique fitting process. We'll analyze your unique biomechanics to determine your degree of pronation. From there we can narrow the shoe selection to either a stability, motion-control, or cushioned shoe. We accomodate the competitive runner with the latest in racing flats and spikes. Don't let us forget the walker as well. We carry a wide selection of shoes in all sizes and widths. If we don't have the size that you need we can special order. Our mission is to provide the highest quality service and products to help our customers stay on track to a healthy lifestyle and optimal performance.

Our team at Inside Track have been running since childhood and some of us have been running since the late 70's/early 80's. In that time, a lot has happened to the running shoe. So much, in fact, it takes a true running geek to keep up with all the changes.

As the shoe evolved, so did the competition and choices. No longer could one walk into a store and say, "oh, I like such and such brand" because the brands and models are always changing. Thus, the birth of Inside Track, greater Ventura County's Running and Racing Headquarters. We strive to learn everything we can about our shoes and to teach our customers all that they are willing to learn. If we don't have an immediate answer to a question, it is our mission to research until we find the answer. Yes, we do carry Gold Medal shoes of Runner's World and Running Magazines, but we also know that each person has an individual need. What is GREAT for the masses may not be ideal for you. This is why providing service is so important.
